The Chicago Young Americans are proud to announce their seventh NCAA commit of the season. Defenseman Melina Maggio has committed to play next season at UMass Boston. UMass plays in the high powered NEHC hockey conference and play their home games on campus at the Clark Athletic Center. “We’re all so excited for Magg,” commented Cimba. “She had a couple of options but wanted her hockey goals to align with her academic goals. Magg was also excepted into UMass’s nursing program, the top program on her list. There’s nothing better than seeing both these worlds come together so perfectly. I’m so proud of her.” Melina will be joining CYA Alum Addie Budington next season on the blueline. “I can’t tell you how excited/relieved/pumped I am with how it all came together,” said Melina. “It’s hard enough working to catch the eye of coaches, but to wait on your application to be accepted into nursing only added to the stress/excitement/celebration. I can’t thank everyone at CYA enough for the time you put into the entire process and the time you put into helping me stay calm throughout this crazy ride. I also want to thank my family. You always believed in me and were my rock when I needed it.”

It’s been a crazy year, but one that Melina and the entire CYA 19’s will never forget. They are looking forward to a strong finish on their season.

So Proud Magg!!!
