The Chicago Young Americans are proud to announce their 8th NCAA commit of the season. Tatum Blacker has committed to play Division 1 hockey at Quinnipiac University for the 2022/23 season. Quinnipiac plays in the highly competitive ECAC with all their home games on campus in the beautiful Peoples United Center, in Hamden, CT.

“Nothing makes me prouder then to see a player who starts their CYA carrier at U12, rise to the level of Division 1 hockey,” commented Cimba. “We all knew Tatum was something special, even way back then.” Tatum represents CYA’s 7th Division 1 goalie placement in the past six seasons. “Tatum’s feistiness and never get beat attitude has been at the core of who she is since U12,” Said CYA head goalie coach, Sanya Sandahl. “It’s that attitude that’s going to help her to do great things both on and off the ice at Quinnipiac.”

“It’s been a crazy ride and if I had it to do over again, I wouldn’t change a thing,” said Blacker. “Taking time to visit the campus and getting to know coach Turner and coach Alessi only helped in knowing Quinnipiac is where I want to be. I want to thank my entire CYA family for giving so much support, this club is not like any other a place. It’s a community and one where personality and heart are as important as hockey ability. I also want to give a special thank you to Coach Sanya. There’s a piece of you in every save I make. Finally, I want to thank my family. You have been my rock, through every up and down on this crazy ride and I know I couldn’t have done this without you.”

CYA 16’s will be leaning heavily on Tatum over the next month as they just finished winning state. They are now preparing for the district championships and their run at the National title.
