CYA is proud to announce their 9th NCAA commit this season. Veteran goalie Jill Hertl has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey at Franklin Pierce University.
CYA is proud to announce their 9th NCAA commit this season. Veteran goalie Jill Hertl has committed to play NCAA Division 1 hockey at Franklin Pierce University. “Another player who started as a U12 reaches her dream, I am so pumped for Jill” commented Cimba. “Being part of a new Division 1 club brings so many amazing opportunities with it. She has a chance to make her mark as a Freshman, something that doesn’t happen to most NCAA goalies. I know Coach Stockdale plans to lean heavily on Jill and I know she’s got the heart and talent to deliver. I can’t wait to watch.” CYA’s head goalie coach, Sanya Sandahl went on to say, “It’s the combination of Jill’s athleticism and hard work that came together. She stayed focused on being the best she could be and a great opportunity came along. I am so proud of her.”
Franklin Pierce is part of the NEWHA and is located in beautiful Rindge, New Hampshire. They play their home games at the Jason Ritchie Ice Arena. "It's so hard for me to explain this feeling - the road has been long, full of ups and downs, but looking back, I would not change a thing," says Hertl. "When I stepped on the Franklin Pierce campus, I immediately fell in love with the atmosphere. I would like to thank CYA & Coach Cimba for helping me get to this point and reminding me to stay calm! My teammates could not have given me more support, both on and off the ice, so thank you. I especially want to thank Coach Sanya - without her, I would not be where I am today. Lastly, thank you to my family as they have stood by my side and supported me all the way to the end."
CYA is excited to now have 2 Division 1 goalies playing on their U19’s next season. We can’t wait for the season to start!!
