The Chicago Young Americans are excited to announce that Maya Ballard has committed to play NCAA hockey for St. Olaf College. “What an amazing way to close out the season,” commented Cimba. “We couldn’t be more excited for Maya. She chose to take her time with this decision, making sure that both the academics and hockey aligned with her goals. Maya’s work ethic has been her driving force both on and off the ice, something I know Coach Johnson wants to see in all her players.” Maya is CYA’s 10th NCAA commit of the season and she will be joining fellow teammates Hannah Metric and Kate Carfagnini in the always recognizable Black and Gold of the MIAC Conference.
“I am so excited to continue my hockey career at St Olaf,” said Maya. “I immediately fell in love with the campus, the academics and the awesome new facilities. I really like Coach Tracy’s approach and dedication to building the program. I will miss the CYA family and appreciate the motivation and encouragement I received from all of my coaches and teammates. Finally, thanks to my parents who are looking forward to four more years of driving to the rink and yelling “skate faster.’’
Maya has already started her summer training, as the Oles look to make some serious noise next season.
We are all so proud Maya!!
